What's more, it's free.PuTTY very advantageously replaces the telnet client delivered with Windows by providing many more functions but especially by allowing SSH access. SSH is a much more secure remote connection protocol than Telnet and is now the most widely used.
On the ergonomics side, PuTTY manages a "buffer" which makes it possible to view all the history of the exchange with the server with a flick of the wheel. It also allows it to be "copied" by a simple selection and "pasted" by the right mouse button. A host of more or less abstruse options will serve the most advanced users.
